1. NATURE OF SECURITIES MARKETS IN INDIA

1.01: The Indian Securities Markets are extremely volatile and emotionally driven. It may seem ridiculous but the alleged sexual conduct of an individual living on the other side of the globe makes an impact on the net worth of Indian Investors. In India, equity investments and sales are driven by highly irrational emotions of greed or fear. The Indian Securities Markets dance to the tune of innumerable events across the globe. Whether the Nikkei falls or rises or the Hang Seng is surfing as usual, whether the STI Index or Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta are bearish or bullish makes a great impact on the Indian Securities Markets. The Indian Securities Markets also rise and fall depending upon the fate of the Indian Rupee vis-à-vis the Dollar, the Yen, the Mark or the Pound. If the Yen catches a cold, the Securities Markets in India will begin to sneeze. Pakistan's utterances on Kashmir issue, political prospects of the Japanese Prime Minister and the nuclear ban all affect the Indian Securities Markets.
